Every week, High Fives asks five bands five themed questions over five days. This week, we’re probing the depths of the spookiest holiday of all, Halloween. Because haven't you always wanted to see baby Kevin Drew in costume? (He's the little one).

Before everyone and their grandma was barfing all over themselves to extol the virtues of Broken Social Scene’s breakout album, You Forgot It In People, there was a little band called KC Accidental (and there was also another BSS record, but that’s neither here nor there right now). A joint venture from future BSS impresarios Kevin Drew and Charles Spearin, the band’s primarily instrumental post-rock sound laid the groundwork for the duo’s later sonic experimentations in that really popular band you love, and featured contributions from many of its biggest players (Jason Collett! Emily Haines! Bill Priddle!). Previously released in limited runs and never available outside of Canada, Arts and Crafts is re-releasing both of the band’s full-lengths this week, Captured Anthems for an Empty Bathtub and Anthems for the Could’ve Bin Pills. We spoke with braintrust Kevin Drew about none of that.

AUX TV: What was the best costume from your childhood?

KEVIN DREW: I was always a woman because my mother always wanted a daughter.

What was the best costume from your post-childhood?

I was always a woman because deep down I always wanted to be one.

What’s the most scared you’ve ever been in a movie?

The twins from The Shining at a birthday party when I was 10 years old trying to act cool. I didn’t sleep for five days.

What role, if any, do sexy costumes serve in our modern Halloween culture?

I don’t know and I don’t care.

Where will you be on Halloween this year?

Rocking out.
