This morning's new music news; Wyclef Jean has officially ended his run to be the next Haiti president, Liars will release a new EP of live recordings and a new band has been formed consisting of members from Sleater-Kinney, Helium and Minders.

Wyclef Jean finally announced yesterday that he will abandon his bid to be the next Haitian president. A statement on his website read, “After weeks of quiet but painstaking reflection with my wife and daughter, I have chosen to end my bid for the presidency of Haiti.” The former Fugee now turns his focus to his upcoming album entitled If I Were President: The Haitian Experience, which is due out sometime next year. On September 28, Liars will release a new EP called Live at Shepherds Bush Empire, a collection of songs recorded live during the band’s gig in London on May 27. The EP will come out via iTunes and follows their latest LP Sisterworld. [NME]

And Merge have announced the formation of Wild Flag, a supergroup of that consists of Sleater-Kinney members Janet Weiss and Carrie Brownstein, Helium leader Mary Timony and Minders member Rebecca Cole. The new band are set to start recording in early 2011. [Prefix]
