Joaquin Phoenix returned to the Late Show with David Letterman last night for the first time since last year’s interview where he said he’d given up acting and decided to become a hip-hop musician, which was then documented in the recent film I’m Still Here. The movie turned out to be a farce like most people expected and in the clips taken from the interview below the Oscar-nominated actor explains to Letterman the project involving himself and directory Casey Affleck.

“We wanted to do a film that explored celebrity and explored the relationship between the media and the consumers and the celebrities themselves,” he said. Watch the interview below and see Letterman try to wiggle some money out of Phoenix for getting free publicity on his show last year.
