Nominees announced for 2010 Western Canadian Music Awards

BreakOut West has announced the nominees for this year’s 2010 Western Canadian Music Awards, which will be presented in Kelowna, British Columbia on Sunday October 24. The event marks the first time the award show will be broadcast in English on CBC and in French on Radio Canada.

British Columbia native Dan Mangan’s, whose latest album Nice, Nice, Very Nice has been shortlisted for this year’s Polaris Music Prize, has been nominated three times for Independent Album of the Year, Roots Solo Recording of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Bif Naked, Said The Whale, The Dudes, The Weakerthans, Yukon Blonde and You Say Party will battle for Rock Recording of the Year while Cityreal, Grand Analog, MAGNUM K.I., The Lytics and Def 3 and Factor are all up for Rap/Hip Hop Recording of the Year.
