The next album from English band Klaxons entitled Surfing the Void, due out in a few weeks, will be their sophomore effort, however a recent interview has revealed an outpouring of tracks recorded for it have left them with a few leftovers, which they now plan to release as a EP.

“It sounds folky, it’s not a record for a start it’s an EP, which will see the light of day at some point,” member James Righton said. “It’s a lot more complicated, a lot more considered as well. Lots of layered vocals.”

“It’s quite slow, there’s a waltz on it and it’s just great,” bassist Jamie Reynolds added. “[There is] a seven-minute waltz! We’ve taken tracks and taken all the music out and replaced it with drones – it’s very drudgy and slow and beautiful and odd.”

Although no release date has been set for the EP, the band’s cat-covered Surfing the Void comes out August 23 and they’ll be touring North America, Europe and Australia for the remainder of the year in support of it. See the Canadian dates below. [NME]
