Korn fan’s got a treat yesterday with the release of the band’s 9th studio album entitled Korn 3: Remember Who You Are. Working again with producer Ross Robinson, the band adds another chapter to the Korn legacy by releasing a stripped down, Pro Tools free album.

“It’s sort of like a great escape,” said Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shafer when talking about the new record. “You can find some sort of salvation in it by losing yourself in the music. That’s why everybody comes see the concerts. They don’t have to think about what they’re going to do tomorrow, or what they did earlier today—they lose themselves in the concerts, in the moment. That’s what we do when we’re writing—we lose ourselves, we lose track of time and it’s about the present.”

The most distinct characteristic of Korn is vocalist Jonathan Davis’s lyrics—often expressing intense loneliness and isolation; a theme which continues to resonate with Korn’s younger audience. “I think Jonathan’s lyrics kinda bring you into a world that’s interesting. I think it also makes it okay for you to show emotion and I think that attracts kids. A lot of kids are afraid to express themselves and when they listen to Jonathan, his lyrics, how he sings it and the passion he has, [they know] it’s okay to feel these feelings, it is normal—you sort of have somebody, like your own little Korn support group.”

You can see a full video interview with Korn’s Fieldy and Munky on a brand new episode of HARD, tonight at 7PM PT 10PM ET only on AUX.
