When Vampire Weekend began promoting their latest album, Contra the cover art certainly got many a bloggers attention. Well, reports have surfaced that the cover art was also news to Kirsten Kennis, the until now mysterious girl in the photo. Kennis is suing Vampire Weekend and the photographer Tod Brody for 2 million due to what she claims is unauthorized use of the photo. Apparently her signature on the release is forged – which likely points the finger at Brody. It seems like a difficult case to prove since the shot was taken in 1983, and damages are probably nowhere near the 2 million mark. But, it’s LA – and overblown lawsuits are an industry pastime.
