This morning's new music news; The Who have revealed they would like to take their 1973 rock opera 'Quadrophenia' on tour next spring, Grinderman will release a new album following their self-titled debut this September and WIlco have plans to start releasing new material under their own label.

The Who are currently in the process of planning a tour that’s set to take place next spring. Word is the band will perform their 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia. In an interview with Billboard Roger Daltrey said, “We’ve got ideas, we’re looking on probably being out there, hopefully if all goes well, in the spring of next year. We definitely don’t want to stop. We feel it’s the role of the artist to go all the way through life ’til you can’t do it anymore.” [Billboard]

Grinderman, a band that consists of Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos will release the follow up to their self-titled debut on September 14 called Grinderman 2. The album’s first single, “Heathen Child” comes out August 30. [NME]

And Wilco may be releasing their next album on their own following last year’s seventh studio album Wilco (The Album). The band’s contract with Nonesuch has expired and in a interview guitarist Nels Cline spoke about tentative plans for the next release. “I think our main task now is to work on new material and a new album,” Cline said. “And now that we have our own record label, there’s going to be funny things to come out.  Jeff [Tweedy] was basically not wanting to be on a record label for a while — he didn’t renew his contract with Nonesuch — so we’re striking out on our own, our own label… Basically, Jeff and [Wilco’s manager] Tony Margherita are the masterminds, so I’m just cruising with what they want to do.” [Exclaim!]
