While down at South by Soutwest this past March and in-between an interview with an English newspaper, Metric recorded two songs off their latest album Fantasies for Daytrotter and you can download them for free from the website with the very artful rendition from singer Emily Haines.
The first track is the ever popular single “Gimme Sympathy” whom Haines dedicates to “Everyone who ever wanted to fire their boss.” The other is “Help I’m Alive.” Usually during these sessions the band or artist present records a batch of songs, however due to the band’s lack of time they only managed to put these two down and just with an acoustic guitar and Haines singing.
Recently the music video for their song “Eclipse (All Yours),” which was a collaboration with film composer Howard Shore was released to correspond with the new Twilight movie, Eclipse. Metric are touring North America this summer and their next scheduled Canadian date is in Edmonton on July 30.
All Canadian dates:
July 30 – Capital EX – Edmonton
August 1 – Osheaga – Montreal
October 21 – Colisee Pepsi – Quebec City w/Muse
