Rapper Kid Cudi was arrested Friday in New York City for criminal mischief and criminal possession of a controlled substance, Sergeant John Butorn said. Cudi, aka Scott Mescudi was still able to perform his set at Bonnaroo the next day where he told fans, “I really wanted to be here tonight.”

Cudi’s debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day was released in September of last year and followed his first mixtape entitled A Kid Named Cudi. Two of the album’s singles, “Day ‘n’ Night” and “Make Her Say” were both nominated for Grammy Awards. The rapper’s forthcoming album looks to be taking on the same kind of concept as currently it’s named Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Ranger and is due out this September. The Cleveland native also currently stars in the Mark Wahlberg produced HBO comedy series How to Make it In America. [BBC]
