Download of the Week: Tokyo Police Club - "Boots of Danger (Wait Up) (Passion Pit remix)"

Things might be a bit heavy on the remixes lately, but this is a fun one that is worth many listens. Somehow, the music of Newmarket, ON-based pop rock band Tokyo Police Club seems to evoke up memories of friends having fun, kind of like what you would see in high school slideshows. So, with the help of tourmates Passion Pit, the fun is cranked up another couple notches for this clever summer hit.

Cambridge, MA-based electro-rock group Passion Pit attempted to remix Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” earlier this year, and that result wasn’t so good. But it’s been a while; they’ve got it practiced by now and did wonders to this TPC song. While the original is kooky on its own, with the added club mix sounds and repeated joyous chorus line of ‘do do do’s, it’s even more nostalgic and playful. Whoever’s behind this track took singer Dave Monks and put him somewhere between a video game and his car and that’s just fun thinking about it. The remix goes through different motions, pacing itself and finding energy pockets, sure to keep you on your toes.

Last week, Tokyo Police Club released their second full-length album, Champ. They are currently touring with their remix buddies, but unfortunately none of those dates will reach Canada.
