The Acorn established a name for themselves in 2008 as a dreamy folk-rock band with the release of Glory Hope Mountain, a concept album about the life of front man Rolf Klausener’s mother. The band’s second full-length’s songs were sleepy like lullabies, but the lyrics were disguised, as they were closer to nightmares.

Last week, the Ottawa-based band released their latest album, No Ghost. The album isn’t a concept album or incredibly dark, but it’s kept the dreamy qualities to go along with the more light-hearted messages. The band has upped the noise, but you can’t deny the light-as-air notes, and neither could Four Tet (real name Kieran Hebden), as we now have his remix of the single “Restoration” to give to you for free.

Four Tet is a UK-based musician who has done a great deal of remixes for artists such as Radiohead, Bloc Party, Explosions in the Sky, Sia and more. On this remix, he slows down the song to almost six minutes – letting the first two minutes glide with birds chirping and keyboard and guitar lines intertwining like rising vines. Klausener’s vocals come in after, and the steadiest part of the drums comes in another minute later. It’s slow and like a fairy tale, but when it ends, you’re left with the reality that the Acorn are really onto something big.
