Awhile back there was talk about the rapper more-so producer and recently actor known as Diddy potentially buying English soccer club Crystal Palace. Now official word has been given that he won’t be buying the team, who are currently in England’s Championship division right below the Premier League, arguably the most competitive soccer division in the world.

“There was somebody that had looked at it but the business of it just wasn’t the right business move for me at the time,” Diddy told the BBC. The team was struggling financially and nearing liquidation before they were bought by a consortium last week called CPFC 2010. However the producer didn’t shy away from speaking about future plans to purchase another team.

“I’m always looking into different business ventures and it’s definitely one of my dreams one day to be a part of a sports franchise, especially a football team,” he said. “If the right situation comes my way and it’s appealing and we can make the right splash and most importantly build the right team and win… I’m into winning and if it’s the right situation then I’m open to it.” [BBC]

Diddy was featured in the recent movie Get Him To The Greek and is also relaunching his music career with a new group called Dirty Money who will be performing on his upcoming album called Last Train to Paris. Other confirmed guests include Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Lil Wayne, T.I. and Chris Brown. It comes out this September.
