This morning in new music; Carl Barat speaks about his solo debut, U2 plan a triple vinyl release and Sarah McLachlan is set to release her first studio album in seven years.

Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan is set to release her first studio album of new material in seven years. Entitled The Laws of Illusion, the album is currently being recorded in Montreal and Vancouver with McLachlan’s longtime producer Pierre Marchand. U2 will release a triple-disc vinyl edition of their new remix album, Artificial Horizon. Scheduled to be released on May 14, the album features Hop Chip, Trent Reznor and Justice contributing to remixes of songs such as “Beautiful Day,” “Vertigo,” “Get On Your Boots” and “City of Blinding Lights.” More album details can be found on the band’s official website. And former Libertines singer Carl Barat has finished work on his forthcoming solo debut. No release date has been announced, but speaking with the BBC about the new disc Barat said, “It’s definitely different from The Libertines. It’s different from anything I’ve done before. It’s kind of naked, kind of stripped down. It’s more piano based.” As for a Libertines reunion, Barat said, “I guess I’ll have to have a chat to Pete about it. He wanted to do it sooner but we missed all the dates.” [BBC]
