This morning in new music; Stars plan the release of their fifth album 'The Five Ghosts', Billy Corgan auditions Ginger Pooley for Smashing Pumpkins and DMX arrested again.

Yesterday DMX was arrested in Arizona for violating his probation. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio told Reuters that the rapper confessed to a probation officer he used cocaine and was not complying with the terms of his treatment plan. DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons was serving probation for throwing a food tray at a detention officer inside a Phoenix jail last year. [Reuters]

Billy Corgan has announced the Smashing Pumpkins will be auditioning musicians to replace bassist Ginger Pooley, who replaced Melissa Auf der Maur, who replaced D’arcy Wretzky. Pooley has left the band to raise her baby with her husband. Mark Tulin from the Electric Prunes will fill in until a new bassist is found and for the soon to be announced world tour. [Spin]

And Stars are set to release a new album this Spring. Entitled The Five Ghosts, this is the bands fifth album and first since 2007’s In Our Bedroom After the War. Speaking about the new disc, singer Amy Milan said, “We have never written an album with this much cohesion and unity. It is the first time we’ve had the luxury of being together in a huge room writing songs off the floor.” This will be the first release on the band’s new label Soft Revolution. [Pitchfork]
