This morning in new music news; Kevin Drew tells Pitchfork about a new Broken Social Scene album, Neil Young win most obscure Grammy award category, and Noel Gallagher books his first live gig in a while.

Fans of the band that made Toronto famous, or what is Toronto that made them famous?…either way, the new Broken Social Scene album is set to come out May 4, according to Kevin Drew who recently spoke with Pitchfork. Drew said the album was written by himself, Brendan Canning, Justin Peroff, Charles Spearin, Andrew Whiteman and Sam Goldberb. The band’s revolving door of collaborators includes Feist, Emily Haines, Amy Milan, Evan Cranley, Jimmy Shaw, Jason Collett, just to name a few. Neil Young won his first ever Grammy award last night, not that he really cares I’m sure. The legendary Canadian songwriter has been making music since the 60s with bands as well as on his own. Young picked up the award for ‘Best Boxed Set Or Special Limited Edition Package.’ Accepting the award, Young simply said, “Thanks a lot, everybody.” [Clash]

And Noel Gallagher is set to play his first solo gig since leaving Oasis and hopefully his little bro won’t be there heckling from the crowd. Gallagher will join Arctic Monkeys, Them Crooked Vultures, Depeche Mode, The Who and several others this March for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall in London. [NME]
