Stairway To WTF - Mary J. Blige Covers 'Stairway to Heaven' With Randy Jackson & Travis Barker

After the announcement of Slash’s solo album featuring anybody that was available, it seemed he was sure to take home the most out of touch with today’s music industry Grammy Award (new category, not yet approved).  Following her performance with Andre Bocelli however Mary J. Blige has pulled even further ahead with news that she has just recorded a cover of Stairway to Heaven with Travis Barker, Steve Vai, Orianthi, and Randy Jackson.

Look, it’s not that we hate the concept as the LA Times blog suggests some might, it’s that the concept hates music.

“I think this song is not hard at all because it’s based on pure emotion,” Blige tell Spinner after a couple of takes. “You gotta get lost in the rock ‘n’ roll moment of it all, and once you get lost in the rock ‘n’ roll moment of it all you can do is scream to the top of your lungs or go as low as you need to go. It’s not a head thing — it’s a spirit thing.”
