This morning in new music news; Thom Yorke's Coachella band revealed, Rush to join the Canadian songwriters hall of fame new details on New Young Pony Club's forthcoming album.

The Canadian songwriters hall of fame has announced its 2010 inductees, including 11 songwriters, 16 songs and two Legacy Award recipients. Among the notable inductees is rock legends Rush and singer-songwriter Robert Charlebois. Recorded sound archivist Edward B. Moogk will receive the Frank Davies Legacy Award and producer/agent Guy Latraverse will get the Canadian Music Publishers Association Legacy Award. Songs inducted include “Closer to the Heart” by Rush, “The Hockey Theme” by Dolores Claman and “Fu Man Chu” by Robert Charlebois, Claude Gagnon and Marcel Sabourin. At this year’s Coachella festival, Thom Yorke will perform with his Eraser band that consists of Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. According to gigwise Yorke told Radio 1  Radiohead are still busy in the studio recording new material. [Gigwise]

New Young Pony Club singer Ty Bulmer has told The Quietus the bands new album, The Optimist, will be a lot darker than their debut, Fantastic Playroom. “We had a set of criteria we wanted to fulfill, not to be amazingly different, but to challenge ourselves,” she said.
