This morning in new music; Beck, Pixies and No Age remember Jay Reatard, MGMT announce their follow up album, and James Murphy says this latest LCD Soundsystem project will be his last.

Brooklyn based MGMT have announced that their follow up album to 2008’s Oracular Spectacular will be released this spring. Singer Andrew Vanwyngarden told Spin that the new album, Congratulations, is “definitely going to shock people.” “It’s very plaintive. In a weird way it’s like a soul record. That, and there’s an instrumental track called “Lady Dada’s Nightmare,” he added. [SPIN]

James Murphy, the man behind LCD Soundsystems, has told NME that the upcoming album might be the last under that musical project. Set to be released in April and following 2007’s Sound of Silver, Murphy said that a change is in order to move on musically and that the next LCD tour will probably be the last one. [NME]

Beck, Pixies and No Age have paid tribute to Jay Reatard, who died yesterday. Streaming on Beck’s website is Jay’s cover of the song “Gamma Ray.” Listen to it. The Pixies recently toured with Reatard have left the following message on their Facebook. “We want to express our condolences to the friends and family of Jay Reatard, on his sudden passing today.” And No Age have posted a photo gallery on their blog of them hanging out with Reatard. Have a look. [Prefix]
