Members of English band The xx have brought their debut album to life. An “audio sculpture” based on the album has been placed in a gallery in London. Produced by music video director Saam Farahmand, it’s called The xx: A Sculpture of the album It is free to view and will be on display from Jan. 8 – 12. [Prefix]

Billy Corgan and long-time collaborator Kerry “Studio Dog” Brown have announced they will launch a new record label. No name has been chosen, however 70s LA punk band The Germs will release new material under the label. Other bands releasing music for the label will include, Fancy Space People, the Electric Prunes, the Strawberry Alarm Clock and Corgan’s side project Starchildren. [LA Weekly]

Supergroup Monsters of Folk have announced they have started work on a new album. The band released their self-titled album in September of last year. In October, the song “Baby Boomer” was featured on Starbucks iTunes pick of the week. Members include Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes, Jim James from My Morning Jacket and M Ward. [NME]
