Friendship is forever. That’s something Will Smith instilled in me at an early age; his friendship, if not artistic partnership, with DJ Jazzy Jeff just felt so permanent, even if they’d only been buds for two years before their 1987 debut. And so while they’ve drifted apart artistically over the years, not having worked as a duo since 1993’s Code Red, they’ve worked together on every Will Smith solo album post-Fresh Prince.

Last year, they briefly reunited on the Graham Norton show, where Jeff, Will, his son Jaden and Alfonso Ribeiro came together to perform Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme, the Carlton Dance and the “Apache (Jump On It)” dance. It was beautiful but fleeting. This weekend, they came together proper.

The magic happened at a Las Vegas pool party where, unexpectedly, the duo got together to perform 1991’s “Summertime” not long after Smith Facebooked about how good Jazzy Jeff still was on the 1s and 2s.

Yes, there’s video:

With four movies due out in the next year, Will Smith is likely too busy to jump headfirst back into music. But hey, we’ll always have Homebase. [h/t HuffingtonPost]
