Who Dated Who?: A Hip-Hop Hitmakers Relationship Chart

The hip-hop dating pool is truly as fascinating as it is small. Who’s the common lady friend between Kanye & Bow Wow? Which reality TV star has both Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa on her hookup roster? It’s a tangled web, so we’ve created this handy infographic to help you keep it straight. And if you’re an aspiring rapper, it might even come in handy in ensuring you don’t step on any toes.

1. Kanye West & Amber Rose (Dated)
Kanye and Amber dated from 2008 to 2010, but despite their much publicised relationship and subsequent breakup, Amber wasn’t the muse for Kanye’s 808’s and Heartbreak (that honour belongs to fashion designer Alexis Phifer). Amber blames Kim Kardashian for their ultimate demise, and accuses her of sending ‘Ye a series of relentlessly scandalous pictures and text messages, leading to an inevitable hookup.
2. Kanye West & Melody Thornton (Rumoured)
Yeezy and this ex-Pussy Cat Doll were spotted holding hands coming out of a Marc Jacobs fashion show in New York in September of 2010. Kanye has never been the type to date pop singers, which could be why this coupling was so short-lived.
3. Wiz Khalifa & Amber Rose (Currently Dating)
Wiz and Amber announced their engagement in early 2012. Wiz must really love her, because he agreed to drop a featured verse on this truly terrible collaboration. Listen to Amber Rose’s first single, “Fame” below:
4. Drake & Amber Rose (Rumoured)
Shortly after Kanye & Amber broke up, she was spotted leaving a MTV VMA Award party with none other than Mr. OVO, Drizzy Drake. The two were photographed together that night, and they look pretty cozy, but does it mean anything? Speculation is titillating, isn’t it?
5. Wiz Khalifa & Natalie Nunn (Rumoured)
Bad Girls Club reality TV star Natalie Nunn was pretty vocal about bedding Wiz Khalifa, but Wiz adamantly denies it. When a photo of Natalie and Wiz locking lips surfaced. Wiz insisted he was giving her a “shotgun,” ie. blowing marijuana smoke into her mouth.
6. Bow Wow & Melody Thornton (Dated)
Bow Wow and Melody dated for a few months in 2007/2008. Insert super-hilarious cat/dog joke here.
7. Chris Brown & Natalie Nunn (Hookup)
Natalie Nunn must have a complex, because like Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown also publicly denied rumours that the two hooked up. In a radio interview, Nunn insisted that she “smashed the homie,” and threatened to leak nude pictures of Brown if he tested her again. If she really “smashed the homie,” and he didn’t smash back, she’s a lucky gal. Could Nunn be the one who leaked the infamous Chris Brown self-shot mirror nudes?
8. Drake & Rihanna (Dated)
When we first heard the news that a former Degrassi star was dating Rihanna in 2009, we had no idea that in a few short months Aubrey “Drake” Graham would be one of the biggest rappers on the planet. The initial romance didn’t work out, but the the two have seen each other casually on and off ever since. A part of me wishes that Drake would lock it down, because I’ve got a million dollar rom-com screenplay brewing in my brains.
9. Chris Brown & Rihanna (Dated / ???)
What can you say about this infamous pairing that hasn’t already been said? He doesn’t want to talk about it anymore, but Breezy’s biggest hit is still the one that sent Rihanna to the emergency room. OOPH. Curiously, they’ve been spotted at the same club numerous times in the past few months. Are they getting back together? Let’s hope Rihanna knows what she’s doing. I’m seriously pretty nervous about it.
10. Drake & Shanell (Rumoured)
I find this rumour hard to believe, but Drake allegedly slept with fellow Young Money recruit Shanell while Weezy was in prison last year. Shanell has been connected to Weezy romantically in the past, and the rumour even went so far as to suggest that Weezy punched Drake in the face over the supposed betrayal. Drake and Lil Wayne still seem to have a harmonious working relationship to this day, which leads me to believe this rumour is bunk.
11. Weezy & Shanell (Dated)
Rumours have been flying since the day Shanell was signed to Young Money: first Weezy & Shannel were dating, then they were engaged, then the tabloids were reporting she was pregnant with his baby. The extent of their relationship is still unconfirmed, but if you consider that Wayne “just want[s] to fuck every girl in the world,” and pair that with the fact that the couple used to share kisses while on stage together, it’s safe to say that there’s some kind of romantic history here.
12. Weezy & Kat Stacks (Hookup)
Kat Stacks claims to have slept with every male member of Young Money (along with almost every other rapper alive), and she asserts that Lil Wayne gave her $1200 to come to his condo and have sex with him, and others. Kat Stacks is probably the most notorious hip-hop groupie, and she has made a living exposing her varied sexual encounters on her blog. Rappers everywhere breathed a collective sigh of relief when Stacks was arrested and imprisoned for immigration issues in 2010. According to her Twitter bio, Kat Stacks is still in jail today:
13. Bow Wow & Kat Stacks (Hookup)
Bow Wow is just another notch on Kat Stacks’ belt, but here’s a scandal from the vault for you: in a vlog entry from early 2010, Kat Stacks suggested that Bow Wow was bisexual. That rumour might have caught on if it was coming from a credible source, but everyone knows that Kat Stacks is a headline hungry jailbird.
