Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon has reportedly started his own label, Chigliak Records, an imprint of Jagjaguwar that’s no doubt intended to be pronounced with a fake French accent or something. Okay, so the label actually gets its name from a Northern Exposure character, but that’s a lot harder to joke about, isn’t it?

According to Pitchfork, which points to a post on the label’s website (which seems to be having some technical issues right now), Chigliak Records will focus on putting out albums that were never commercially released or were only released locally and not on vinyl. It’ll also apparently put out new recordings, which all in all means that yes, Justin Vernon’s record label will be a record label that focuses on record label-y things. A crazy concept, we know.

Chigliak’s first release will apparently be from Amateur Love, an “electro-pop thing with a Neil Young or Paul Westerberg-quality songwriter” as Vernon describes it.
