The Strokes reveal their rock 'n' roll vices

Normally, we’re forced to wait until a band breaks up before we’re privy to their proverbial tales of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, but The Strokes threw caution to the wind and revealed to The Guardian their fairly typical list of excesses while living the dream a couple years back.
Fabrizio Moretti told the website that “touring and drinking and doing drugs has a [physical and mental] toll,” while Julian Casablancas admitted that he was “living unsustainably and unproductively,” but assured that he “never wrote when . . . drunk.”
Guitarist Nick Valensi candidly shared that while he’s “a fan of drugs in general,” he thinks “it’s important to to have some level of self-control” while Albert Hammond Jr. revealed that he “was never much of a drinker” and that for him “it was drugs.”
Despite their former glory days, the band have found themselves in a place where they can reflect on what went wrong, as attested by Hammond: “there comes a point where one just takes away from the other one. Living so fast you’re not even doing music anymore”.
