Ever wanted to be a Top 40 Commercial Hip Hop star?  Something New hosts, Korey Schaefer and Jordan Bortolotti certainly have and with the blessings of the Canadian Hip Hop community, they’re about to give it their best shot.

A few months back Korey and Jordan entered Mike Turner’s (former guitarist of our lady peace) studio with Juno award-winning producer, Chris Perry to write, record and produce a track of the most awful commercial hip hop imaginable. Tomorrow they’re making a video for the song which will air on AUX TV as part of their show.

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a video girl/guy? Tomorrow (Saturday April 24th) between 11am and 3pm they guys are shooting a “hip-hop” video for the song called “Do Ya Thang” and they want YOU to be in it!  Just show up to POP Nightclub in downtown Toronto and make sure to be wearing your clubbin’ finest.

Here’s a little more back story:

In preparation of an episode of their show investigating the “de-evolution of hiphop as an artform in the mainstream”, Something New approached artists and emcee’s like Classified, Swollen Members, Wale, among others to get their opinions on the “state of the union”.  Here’s a bit of a spoiler, but unfortunately it was a resounding “bad”.  Classified went as far as to suggest to the boys “anyone can do it.” The guys took Classified’s words litterally, which leaves us to tomorrow’s video shoot.

POP Nightclub is located @ 217 Richmond St. W, Toronto ON.
