The Nova Scotian rapper's new album features Snoop Dogg and DJ Premier.

Two-time Juno winner and Nova Scotia’s favourite son, Classified, has a new album dropping in January. Now he’s given hip-hop fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at his creative process in a making-of video for the track “Filthy”, which you can watch below.

Titled Greatful, the album was self-produced by Classified in Enfield, Nova Scotia with 16 tracks of pure, undiluted hip-hop by the East Coast practitioner. It also features guest appearances from rap legends like Snoop Dogg and DJ Premier. “This album feels like what I’ve been working towards my whole career,” says Classified. “It took me longer than any other album, it’s more personal, and I got to work with my heroes in hip hop.”

If you’ve ever wondered how Classified goes about production before lacing the track with his trademark posi, conscious lyricism, this behind-the-scenes look at the making of the beat for “Filthy” ought to answer some questions. Watch it below:

Greatful is out January 15. The album’s first official single “No Pressure” featuring Snoop Dogg is out now.
