Pink Floyd have won a court battle to stop EMI from selling their songs individually online. The band who signed with the label in 1976 said their contract stated their albums could not be split up without their permission. A judge agreed saying the contract contained a clause to “preserve the artistic integrity of the albums.” EMI has to pay the band $60,000 with a further fine to be decided later. [BBC]

And St. Vincent, Liars and tropicalia band Os Mutantes have recorded a Record Club with Beck. Record Club is a project where Beck collects a few of his music buddies to record a cover version of an album in one day and then posts it on his website. So far The Velvet Underground and Nico and Songs of Leonard Cohen have been done. Details of the recent album covered have not been released yet. [Pitchfork]
