Reatard Died From "Cocaine Toxicity," Autopsy Says

Results of the autopsy were released this morning and reveal 29-year-old musician Jay Reatard died from cocaine toxicity. Shelby County Medical Examiner Dr. Karen E. Chacellor also said "alcohol was a contributing factor in his death." Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was found dead in his Memphis home on Jan. 13.

Chacellor also said “alcohol was a contributing factor in his death.” Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was found dead in his Memphis home on Jan. 13 and reportedly died in his sleep. Known for his low-fi garage punk sound, Reatard released albums as a solo artist as well as with The Reatards and Lost Sounds. Last year’s solo effort Watch Me Fall, was the Reatard’s latest.
