“Keep your eyes wide, the chance won’t come again,” Dylan wrote for “The Times They Are A-Changin,'” a song whose handwritten lyrics fetched over $400K at a recent auction in New York City.
Adam Sender, art collector and hedge fund member, outbid five others by phone with his $422,500 offer for one of Dylan’s most politically charged songs, which was recorded in 1963 and appeared on the album of the same name.
Auction house Sotherby’s initially anticipated the lyric sheet to sell $200,000 to $300,000. The previous owner was Kevin Krown, a friend of Dylan’s. Along with this recently acquired piece of music history, Sender also apparently owns the guitar John Lennon was playing when he met Paul McCartney. Lucky sod. [BBC]
