Mac DeMarco signs with Toronto's Royal Mountain Records

One of Canada's best labels just got a little better.
You may not be familiar with the name Royal Mountain Records, but the little Dundas Street boutique label has been quietly putting out some of Canada’s most lauded albums for the past few years. Their roster consists of only 11 artists, but with names like PUP, Alvvays, Pkew Pkew Pkew, Hollerado and 90s Canuck-rock supergroup TUNS, they’ve quickly made a name for themselves as a label you can count on for quality tunes. Their newest signing is undoubtedly going to cement that reputation: Indie rock hero Mac DeMarco. Understandably, Royal Mountain is a little stoked about it:
DeMarco hasn’t been a Canadian resident for a while: following a stint in Brooklyn, the singer now resides in L.A. His new album This Old Dog will drop worldwide May 5 on Brooklyn’s Captured Tracks label, so the Canadian rights to the album are a big coup for Royal Mountain. To keep his fans from losing their minds, DeMarco has simultaneously released two tracks from the upcoming album which you can check out below.
