Apple will replace lost AirPods for $92

It’s almost 2017, and the majority of the audio-consuming public still spends much of their day wrangling with tangled up headphone cords. Well, not for much longer, at least for a price.

Their release might have been delayed from their planned October release, but now Apple’s wireless AirPods are available for order, to anyone willing to shell out $219 to be on the cutting-edge tech of earbud headphones. Of course, everyone who’s given even a second’s thought to owning wireless earbuds knows with 100% certainty one or both of them is going down the sink drain or otherwise vanishing without a trace within hours of first bringing them home, but now you can rest easy: Apple will replace a single earbud for the low, low price of $69 ($92 CAD).

The replacement fee applies to any of the AirPod components, including the battery charging case, so getting the entire kit replaced will cost you more than just buying a new one… not that Apple brand loyalists have ever been particularly hostile to that scenario.

The AirPods officially began arriving to consumers this week, and early impressions appear to be strong, with one Redditor saying that the headphones are “better than expected” and that “pairing and playing are seamless.” The user, Portatort, goes on to say that the wireless connection remained strong and clear throughout his house. So rest assured, early adopters: it looks like they’re worth the money, at least if you really, really value not having to deal with tangled cords.
