"No one was really a big fan of that theme song".

Despite its syrupy lyrics and 90’s pop-rock sheen, it’s undeniably one of the most iconic TV theme songs ever. Yep, nothing beats the Dawson’s Creek theme for pure TV magic. That other iconic theme for a show about a sexy, privileged group of wise-cracking Friends? Well, even the cast wasn’t into it, which isn’t exactly hard to understand. I mean, it’s no “Hey Sandy”.

“No one was really a big fan of that theme song,” Jennifer Aniston said during an interview for BBC’s The One Show, commenting on the Friends theme, The Rembrandts’ “I’ll Be There For You.” The cast’s lack of enthusiasm apparently extended to the entire Friends opening sequence: “I don’t mean to say that, but we felt it was a little, I don’t know — dancin’ in a pond, or like, a fountain felt a little odd. But we did it.” BREAKING: the Friends were of the spurious opinion that dancing in a fountain is strange.

Aniston also said that she regularly watched Friends reruns, but mainly in an attempt to remember her own past as Rachel Green. “First, I’m trying to remember which episode it is and half the time I’m saying to myself, ‘I don’t remember that.’ You get sucked into the nostalgia of it.” Weird, apparently just hearing “I’ll Be There For You” isn’t enough for someone who was actually on camera.
