iPhone cable causes causes 4-car accident

An iPhone charge cable is the culprit behind a major road accident.

An iPhone cable caused a four-car accident in Singapore when it coiled around a driver’s steering wheel, resulting in his total loss of control of the vehicle. According to Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times, the car then steered into the right lane, hitting a second car, and then drove straight into the divider of Pasir Ris Drive. Impact dislodged some metal rods, which collided with two other vehicles, one of which was a taxi which had pulled over to pick up a fare. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported at the scene.
Now, you might think that someone getting their iPhone cable tangled in their steering wheel says more about user error than any negative reflection on Apple, I think we can all agree we’d rather live in a world without charge cables than headphone jacks. Maybe we’ll get wireless cloud charging out of this or something! If we’ve learned anything about technological progress after all these years, it’s that all it takes is one Rube Goldberg-style car accident every once in a while to push things forward.
Say what you will about Apple’s quest to permanently purge cables: at least in Tim Cook’s brave new world, things like this won’t happen. Well… charge cables are still a thing, actually, so I guess it’ll just be less likely. Still, progress!
