Maybe 2016 isn't so bad after all.

Because 2016 has been exceedingly sad, dumb, and strange (in no particular order), you may have noticed that we, as a culture, have started to celebrate literally anything containing even one molecule of good. (I mean, jeez, guys, we didn’t make a superhero out of Ken Bone because we were celebrating excellence; we liked his sweater and we liked his moustache and we mildly enjoyed how he was vaguely literate when speaking to the two front-runners for president.)

I used to thumb my nose at such cultural practice, believing that the bad, corrupt, and evil things in the world required — nay, demanded — steadfast and virtuous resistance and not apathy and avoidance. With a severity that would put Severus Snape to shame (hey, I just got that!), I used to implore my friends to take arms against the world’s sea of troubles in the hopes that the simple fact of our opposition would end them.

This was before the never-ending meth lab explosion known as 2016 happened. Now I know that everything everywhere is terrible, and that the ice we skate is getting pretty thin. With this in mind, I wholeheartedly suggest — nay, demand — that you find comfort in whatever you can whenever you can, because my world’s on fire, and the apocalypse is clearly nigh. At this point, it really doesn’t make sense not to live for fun.

It is in that spirit that we humbly present to you Jon Sudano, an all star vocalist if ever there was one, and his pitch-perfect cover of Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” as written by Steve Harwell.

You may also like his cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
