Yeezy sold $780,000 US at a Madison Square Garden gig, shattering the Pope's previous record by more than $200,000.

Between naming one of his albums Yeezus and calling himself a god (like, “literally“, Kanye West has done a great job pissing off Christians over the years.

Now he’s done one better: The first of his shows at Madison Square Garden sold so much swag that it broke Pope Francis’s record for merchandise sold in a single night.

About a year ago, Saint Francis shucked enough rosaries, candles and other Pope-blessed/branded swag to rake in $540,000. Insane right? Well, Kanye’s fans are apparently just as passionate as his haters, and aren’t afraid to use their wallets to show their love. Kanye’s people told TMZ that by the end of the night, $780,000 worth of merchandise had been sold — that’s over $1 million Canadian, for anyone running the numbers.

Sorry, Papa Pope. Of course, with offerings like his infamous $120 plain white T-shirts, West might have a little of an advantage on the price-point side of things.

Check out some of his merch in the gallery up top.
