Chance the Rapper took almost 2000 tickets back from scalpers so his fans could afford to see him live.

There’s no more enigmatic rap star than Chance the Rapper, whose climbed the charts, played Saturday Night Live and headlined festivals, all in spite of the fact that he’s yet to release an actual album. But he’s more than a mixtape hustler — Chance has consistently proven to be a thoughtful, charismatic and caring artist, and his latest efforts are no different: On Twitter, Chance has been bragging (rightfully) about taking back his concert tickets from scalpers so he can sell them to real fans at cost.

Whether Chance is buying these tickets off of thirsty scalpers or getting the back by some other means is unclear; maybe he’s tracking ‘em down online, cancelling their purchases and printing ‘em out.

If he’s buying them, then the scalpers still get paid.

Still, this is less about Chance sticking it to scalpers than it is him doing right by his fans.

On his website, Chance was selling floor seats for $45 – $75. Natch, scalpers took advantage of the cheap prices, swooped in, and sought to rip off young backpackers eager to hear Coloring Book live.

And now, thanks to Chance, they can probably actually afford to.
