Ariana Grande is selling $150 cat-ear headphones

I wanted to like you, Ariana. You’re a stellar vocalist. But then you go and do this.

Yes, folks: Ms. Grande has decided it’s time to monetize her love of wearing cat ears – but not through mass production of the plastic headbands she loves so much. Instead, Ariana has teamed up with specialty retailer Brookstone to design wireless cat-ear headphones. And yes, they’re as obnoxious as they sound.

Hold on, let me correct that – they’re way more obnoxious than they sound. In addition to, you know, being giant kitty cat-ear headphones, they sport “independently controlled colour-changing accent lights” to “match your mood or outfit.” But wait, there’s more! Do the ears themselves look a little funny to you? Yeah, that’s because they’re also speakers. Speakers.

These monstrosities will allow the person wearing them to blast her hit/Time’s sixth-worst song of 2015 ‘Focus‘ into your ears while, exhausted, you head home on the subway during rush hour packed like sardines. Think about that. With a price tag of $150, I hope the warranty includes a no-questions-asked replacement when they’re stomped on by enraged commuters.
