YG doesn't know who Bruce Springsteen is

Compton-born rapper YG has been on a tear for the past few years. In 2013, he showed us that a song with lyrics almost exclusively consisting of the phrase ‘My Nigga‘ could be a massive Billboard hit. This year, his sophomore album Still Brazyreceived widespread acclaim, and he dipped his toes into the political realm with a catchy little number called “FDT (Fuck Donald Trump)”. In a recent sit-down with the rapper for their “Under/Over” series, Pitchfork decided to get his take on incredibly random topics ranging from dogs in clothes to taking a shit in other people’s homes. Perhaps the biggest take away was YG’s opinion on the legendary Bruce Springsteen, in that he didn’t have one, due to never having heard of The Boss.

Honestly, the video is worth watching just for the wonderfully sardonic air-guitaring display YG blesses us with at the end of the segment. But you’ll likely be entertained by the whole thing, mostly since dude seems high as all hell. Like, crazy high. At one point he goes off on a tangent to explain why Toms slip-ons feature among his footwear of choice.

“Somebody say: ‘YG, why you wearing Toms, ma nigga?’ If you ever been to the county jail, we wear the same type of shoes when you up in that motherfucker. You feel me? They just a little more square… they’re the same shit.”

YG went on to share more ways jail has changed his life, for example he used to “not fuck with” going to the bathroom in other peoples house, but after having to go in front of his fellow inmates he “doesn’t give a fuck where he shits at.”

The astoundingly blazed rapper actually remembered a couple times that the concept of the interview was to peg certain things as underrated or overrated, opining that dogs in clothes get too much attention (“I think I seen a diaper on a dog once”) and that veganism is “underrated for sure” (YG himself recently became a practicing vegan).

As for his nemesis Donald Trump? When the presidential candidate’s name came up, the rapper Googled a picture and commented: “That’s fucked up. He’s [looking] like a pigeon right here… Donald Trump, that’s a wicked man.”
