He's gone from 'Stop! Hammer Time' to 'Stop Hammer Time!'

As our inability to ever forget the time Alanis Morissette and Glen Ballard wrote a song named “Ironic” that failed in numerous attempts to outline one example of irony will attest, we can’t get enough of ironic happenings when it comes to musicians. So that’s why everybody was all in a tizzy when, in an interview with The Huffington Post, legendary rapper MC Hammer had the following to say:

“Using hammers is always a scary proposition, man. You can hit your fingers. So I try my best to not have to hammer too many things.”

Wait. Are you trying to tell me… (attempt-to-stay-calm-inhalation)… that MC Hammer is afraid of hammers? Sadly, despite our prayers to sweet baby Jesus that this was true, turns out we were almost certainly having our chains yanked.

Hammer’s most recent “let me make sure I’m never broke again” exploit has been pushing new Command™ Hanging Strips by 3M, starring in a commercial where he begs his co-star to “Stop Hammer Time” and laments that “This Hammer hates nails.”

Adding the fact that 3M organized the interview in question, chances are MC Hammer is currently hammering a copy of the cheque he received from 3M onto his “Hooray, I’m rich again” wall. Kudos on the slick advertising campaign, though. Here’s hoping for an anti-M&M’s PSA from Eminem in the near future.
