We've heard of hungering for a new album, but this is ridiculous.

Radiohead’s new album, A Moon Shaped Pool, was released on Sunday, May 8th via the band’s website. Fans of Thom Yorke and co. are already hailing the follow-up to 2011’s The King of Limbs as the band’s fourth consecutive return to form.

I swear, Radiohead have returned to form more often than the average Slinky at this point. The album is being well-received thus far, which unfortunately might mean we’ll go a whole release cycle without a reviewer calling it A Moon Shaped Poo. Dammit, Radiohead! Why did you have to go and deprive us of that by making a good album?!

A beloved artist dropping a surprise new release is always a major cause of histrionics, but when the band’s fanbase is mostly comprised of overly demonstrative sweater vest enthusiasts, things can get a little weird. That’s why a group of people on the Radiohead subreddit are eating photos of Thom Yorke, because they were so certain there would be no album announcement on Friday. No, I don’t understand it either.

In a post titled “Regarding the feast of images”, Reddit user InsanityDefinition makes sure to note that he or she will be consuming an image of Thom “from the new singles’ video because Thom looks like a stud in it.” Note to all psychology undergrads reading this: check out r/Radiohead for your next paper.

Anyway, what does a ‘Head-head eating a picture of Thom Yorke look like? I thought you’d never ask:

That’s some pro paper consumption right there. You could teach the Red Dragon a thing or two.

A somewhat more sensible fan promised to eat an entire bowl of cereal and milk if the LP wasn’t released on May 1st, but he’s almost assuredly a goner at this point. I mean, an entire bowl?

The vinyl special edition of A Moon Shaped Pool will be shipping to fans in September, and Radiohead’s entire back catalogue will be re-issued on vinyl via XL Recordings on May 20th. If the reissued Amnesiac sells more than 1,000 units, I’ll eat an oil painting of Jonny Greenwood.
