Watch Muse's drone crash into a crowd like the 2016 version of Spinal Tap.

Spacey English conspiracy-rock trio Muse, a.k.a. the Spinal Tap of the aughts, have never been a band accused of being too subtle. Therefore, when they’re touring behind their 2015 album Drones, which includes a song called “Drones”, you can probably hazard a guess at what the stage show’s gonna include… although, what with their enormous success and all, you’d think Muse’s inflatable stage drones could stay in the air and not, you know, crash into the crowd in slow-motion, to hilarious effect.

Performing the third show of their four-night residency at London’s O2 arena last night, the crowd was enjoying Muse’s ponderous anthems about the Bilderberg Group or whatever, when the inflatable blimp-like drone (colloquially known as the “Dildrone” to Muse fans, naturally) that was patrolling the arena fell from the sky and into the audience, albeit extremely slowly. The stage crew immediately scrambled to rescue the poor drone and escort it from the arena before the audience took out their Matt Bellamy-stoked anti-drone sentiment on the poor contraption.

Sound too good to be true? Don’t take my word for it: take a look at concertgoers’ social media, which capture the Hindenburg-esque mishap in two delightfully cinematic angles. Oh, the huge vanity:

Rip spaceship. Also shall I spam some muse videos or nah? I don’t wanna be annoying😂 #muse @muse
