The legendary producer known as 'the fifth Beatle' passed away at age 90.

Producer, arranger, composer, and certified studio wizard Sir George Martin passed away on the evening of March 8th, 2016.

The knighted 90-year-old will forever be linked to The Beatles after signing the Fab Four (with original drummer Pete Best) in 1962. He would go on to produce 30 of their #1 hit singles in the UK and 23 in the US, alongside adding swooning strings to songs like “Yesterday”, “Eleanor Rigby”, and “A Day in the Life.” Martin was also responsible for the backward tapes creating the psychedelic sound of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Martin’s passing was confirmed by Ringo Starr, with loving tributes following from Sean Lennon and Paul McCartney. Read those below:
