B.A. Johnston's 'Ham Jam' shows you what Steeltown has to offer.

Hamilton troubadour B.A. Johnston might not yet have achieved the level of recognition he deserves, but his idiosyncratic, fun-loving tunes about Ikea hotdogs and nuking Toronto have earned him a loyal Canadian fanbase that spans from Port Hood to Port Hardy.

Now, Johnston’s taking his hometown to a new level with a proposed online travel show, B.A.’s Johnston’s Ham Jam, which aims to showcase all the glamour and magic Hamilton has to offer. When finished, the proposed show will feature eight episodes of B.A. introducing viewers to his favourite Steeltown attractions such as “Seagull Island” and roast beef sandwiches. It will hopefully inspire more than a few Toronto refugees to make the move to Ambitious City.

Ham Jam is slated to go into production by the end of the year. To get all prospective new Hamiltonians ready, here’s a proof-of-concept promo/music video, courtesy of B.A. and Ham Jam filmmaker Chelsea McMullen. She is best known for her 2013 film My Prairie Home about transgender musician Rae Spoon.

I’m packing my bags as we speak.
