Drake's uncle Larry Graham is a former member of Sly and the Family Stone.

How many times would you say you’ve listened to Kanye’s “No More Parties In L.A.” this week? Five times? Ten times? Six thousand times? (It’s six thousand times, right?) Drake’s apparently listened to it once or twice, because he acknowledged a certain sample on Instagram.

Let’s get to the visual, shall we?

Yup, tucked into the Madlib-produced/Kendrick Lamar-assisted cut is a sample of Larry Graham’s “Stand Up And Shout Out About Love.” In addition to having a noteworthy career that includes time as a member of Sly and the Family Stone and a frontman role with Graham Central Station, the musician is also in the unique spot of being Drake’s uncle. As you can see from the record held up by Drizzy, the sample hasn’t gone unnoticed.

The Drake family connection is something that inspires way too much reading into. Is the Degrassi alum’s IG response a friendly nod to the track? Is it another chapter in his alleged beef with Kendrick? Could it just be the world’s most effective Kijiji ad? It’s something to have an extended think about while giving “No More Parties In L.A.” another six thousand listens.
