Food and Drink Magazine has knighted the cocktail in his honour.

Only a few days after his funeral was livestreamed by fans around the world and metalheads petitioned for an elemental dedication, Motorhead/Hawkwind legend Lemmy Kilimister has earned the most fitting tribute of all.

The famously hard drinking musician popularized the Jack and Coke as his personal poison at the Rainbow Bar and Grill on LA’s Sunset Strip. Now, Food & Beverage Magazine has officially knighted the cocktail of Jack Daniel’s whiskey and Coca-Cola as “The Lemmy” in his honour.

“We are honoured to represent the industry and bring the moniker The Lemmy to every bar in the world!” said Food & Beverage publisher Michael Politz. “Owning a rock club with Anthrax’s Scott Ian and Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell gave me the chance to meet Lemmy and experience his legend myself.”

Lemmy infamously switched from whiskey to vodka “for health reasons” late last year, but in the end it was cancer that claimed his life. After celebrating his 70th birthday on Christmas Eve, he learned that he was afflicted with an aggressive form and passed away on December 28. Kilmister was given a pacemaker in 2013, with breathing troubles resulting in some onstage scares and postponed shows, yet he never truly slowed down. All the same, we’re happy this announcement includes the warning “Please remember to always drink responsibly.”
