Head over to the Toronto Reference Library to dig through their 15,000 records.

Attention all Toronto-area sample flippers, EQ dippers, and venerable public institution ‘shippers: the Toronto Public Library will be hosting a vinyl workshop tomorrow (Thursday, November 12), teaching the basics of crate-digging and record worship.

Finally, the public can learn about all aspects of the vinyl-hunting lifestyle: everything from pulling out what you’re hoping is a rare Tangerine Dream LP and finding out it’s Kenny Loggins’ Celebrate Me Home, to pulling out what you’re hoping is a rare Coil bootleg and finding out it’s Kenny Loggins’ Celebrate Me Home.

The workshop will make use of the library’s extensive, 15,000+ record strong collection, a full list of which can be seen here. The event will be hosted by DJ Agile and Planet of Sound guru Evan Doyle, and take place at the Toronto Reference Library’s Hinton Learning Theatre from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

The library’s vinyl stash is open for public listening, but records can’t be signed out or leave the building. Sorry, you’re gonna have to go sotto voce as you sing along to “Celebrate Me Home.”
