The Toronto venue and restaurant tries to keep the former Toronto Blue Jays GM in the city.

As all baseball fans know, Toronto Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos rejected a contract extension and resigned his position less than a week after the Jays were knocked out of the ALCS in six games by the now-World-Series-champs, the Kansas City Royals. Details surrounding the reasons on Anthopoulos’ departure are scarce, but many speculate it’s due to his belief he would not receive the same amount of autonomy under new president and Blue Jays CEO Mark Shapiro, who officially took the reins on October 31.

Whatever the real reasons for his departure, Anthopoulos won’t lack for work: he’s already got a lucrative intriguing job offer from a Toronto standby. The cause of, and solution to the bulk of Toronto’s hangovers, Sneaky Dee’s, has made Anthopolous an employment offer on their website:

Toronto restaurant and concert venue Sneaky Dee’s is pleased to offer Alex Anthopoulos, former General Manger[sic] of the Toronto Blue Jays, the coveted General Manager position at the local establishment[…]Anthopoulos will have final say in all major day-to-day decisions including menu, venue booking, and personnel.

“Hmm…can we trade our noise-rock night for your throwback pop-punk roster?” – Anthopoulos on the phone to another venue his first day on the job, should this dream matchup actually happen. To sweeten the pot, Dee’s has thrown in some bait any baseball executive won’t be able to resist: according to the offer, “Anthopoulos will also have full control over the restaurant’s recreational softball team roster.” Now we’re talking! Imagine the ringers Anthopoulos could potentially pull some strings with! Can’t wait to see the looks on the faces of the Bistro rec team when Joey Bats shows up and blasts a few over the Bellwoods gates.

“Anthopoulos, the next move is yours” the missive concludes. Who could turn down the chance to make gutsy menu trades like exchanging hot salsa for slightly hotter salsa, day after day? Probably Alex Anthopoulos, but you never know.
