The 'statement of peace' aims to send their Duran Duran cover "Save A Prayer" to #1.

An Eagles of Death Metal performance at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris turned tragic on Friday night when armed gunmen entered the venue to hold hostages from the crowd and eventually kill 89 people.

An audience member captured the moment when machine gunfire first rang out during their song “Kiss the Devil” with a caption that translates to the following: “The last notes before gunshots, panic, and horror.” While the only thing shown is the band’s shocked reaction, this short clip is still incredibly chilling:

Following the casualties that included Eagles of Death Metal merchandise manager Nick Alexander (who had previously worked with Sum 41, The Black Keys, and Alice in Chains), a social media initiative has been launched to bring the band to the top of the UK charts. EODM For No. 1 asks fans to purchase a copy of the Duran Duran cover “Save a Prayer” from their latest album Zipper Down before Thursday, November 19. Duran Duran have also pledged to donate all songwriting royalties they receive from sales of the cover to charity. The founders of the campaign say it’s not about money, but instead a “statement of peace, love, and support.”

Alongside this campaign, anyone interested in helping the citizens of Paris can donate to the French Red Cross or French Doctors Without Borders.
