PREMIERE: Watch L CON's new video "The Distance of the Moon"

Lisa Conway, aka L CON, has amassed quite the impressive body of work ever since first moving to Toronto on a whim to pursue music at age 17. She’s put out half a dozen albums under myriad monikers, appeared on CBC’s Radio Q, and played across the country on a multitude of stages. As L CON, her latest recordings are ethereal, minimalist, experimental, unnerving…and downright elegant, as you find out in her latest video “The Distance of the Moon,” which we’re premiering below.
Joined by Andrew Collins (The Skeletones Four) and Mary Wood (The Warbler), L CON’s most recent music stems from the time Conway spent studying sound art and electroacoustic composition at the Sonic Arts Research Centre in Belfast. Recorded at the Music Gallery and thus steeped in natural reverb, “The Distance of the Moon” is the title track from a limited edition 7″ released back in August. All stuttering drum machine and ghostly vocal, the end product sounds like Bjork and Coil performing together inside an oil drum…and that’s before the awesome saxophone part. The song takes on added power with Conway’s self-directed video, a series of haunting clips taken during the Apollo 11 mission.
In 2016, L CON will be releasing a new space-themed record, Moon Milk, based on Italo Calvino’s 1965 story collection Cosmicomics. For those who like their acoustic-space-folk-disco just a bit more intellectual, check out “The Distance of the Moon” here, and get amped on L CON’s cosmic futurism:
