Little did he know, he wasn't even eligible for the contest.

Spare a thought for dedicated dad Roger Fraser. Why? The pop-supporting pops got inked to win One Direction tickets for his daughters only to learn he wasn’t actually eligible to win.

Fraser, a resident of Tennessee, got a 1D tattoo in a bid to win tickets from a radio station for the group’s Indiana concert. If only he read the contest rules more closely before he got his “I (heart) 1D” skin addition.

“The day he got the tattoo that’s when he said, ‘I hope it’s not one of those contests where you have to be a resident of the state,'” said his 14-year-old daughter Makayla when talking about the situation with ABC News.

It was.

Fraser’s status as a Tennesseean disqualified him from the contest and the tattoo is now mainly a reminder to Tennessee if regional restrictions apply to your zany tattoo plan. As you can see from the evidence below, he should have went with a neck tattoo featuring Harry Styles on general principle.

Homer Simpson would approve.
